Thanks Morgan,
Actually it appears that the problem is not (yet) the chipset but
relates to the fact that Intel has changed the CD/DVD interface.
Suddenly the old IDE interface is being simulated by a SATA interface
and seems not to work under some conditions. Not much of a problem
except for those of us who are trying to generate 965 images for Windows
XP.
But I have decided to stay where I am. I have Vista running in a dual
boot scenario for those mind dead situations when I need some Windows. I
just need to persuade work or Microsoft or someone to give me Office
200x for the occasional occasions when I need it. (Unfortunately there
are still times when Open Office fails on MS Office documents).
