[ubuntu-za] nvidia graphics

Hi guys.
I have the nvidia 71 packages from synaptic downloaded
Now when I go to system preferences display it says
 type in sudo nvidia-xconfig as root and when I do that it says command
not found. But when I go system admin hardware drivers it says
proprietory drivers are being used and shows nvidia and says it is
activated and currently in use. I am getting very deurmekaar now.
Some where there is some communication missing in my 9.04
Where to now?
