Thanks All
LATEST - Thanks to Matthew who 'educated' me on chown I was able to
change the permissions on the conf files.
When I ran the start command I got it to work I think. When I check with
ps -ef etc I get....
ian 1788 1722 0 15:12 pts/1 00:00:00 --color=auto postgres (the last
word in red)
So I guess that means it's running (?)
I can run PGAdmin but nothing listed under servers.
However when I try 'CREATE DATABASE' I get 'command not found'
So tried ''createdb' and I get 'cannot connect, connections on Unix
domain socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s PGSQL.5432"?'
So I tried from my other machine across the network. Again PGAdmin shows
no servers. Found the 'add server' option and followed the help to set
this up. But when I try to connect I get 'no password' error.
Any help with this please?
Thanks
Ian
