Hi,

I upgraded terminal to terminator a couple months back. By using
CTRL+SHIFT+E and CTRL+SHIFT+O I can divide one terminal into more
terminals vertically and horizontally. I also use Guake for quick
commands by pressing F12.

If you need to change the default terminal with the shortcut key
(CTRL+ALT+T) you can do so in compizconfig-settings-manager (ccsm).

Give it go you might just like it :)
