Geary looks like a very nice project! So I'll try to set it up with my
Gmail and report any issues.
Result: Geary is running great, on first run I entered my gmail
account name and password, it works without any further settings.
The details:
I see it uses vala, a new language similar to C#. I'm running on
Wheezy repos, my repo version is only 0.16. Geary requires 0.18. Oops.
So off I go to build vala, after a somewhat battle resolving leftover
dependencies from the older version, I got it installed OK. -- seems
like the latest git repo has a chicken-and-egg issue where it requires
>= vala-0.17 to build itself. Heh. The tarball source does not suffer
this.
@Johan, a quick find located where geary stores the acccount db stuffs:
~$ find . -iname "geary"
./.local/share/geary
Also it stores the account login in the gnome keyring :)
Thanks for pointing this out, the gmail web UI was making me bonkers
and I dreaded setting up offlineimap (again) to use with mutt ;]
