[ubuntu-za] Startup and shut down delays

Hi All

Ubuntu 12.04 has a smooth boot screen sequence, no glitches, however it
seems 14.04 has regressed in this regard and it worries normal users not to
see a splash screen at boot up.

Anybody know how to fix this or is it a system thing?

Cheers
