Hello Jan
That depends. If it is an OEM version that came pre-installed with the
machine, then it is bound to the original motherboard, and dropping the
HDD in a new machine will likely invalidate the license, only causing grief.
If it is a retail version of windows, don't feel too lucky just yet. It
might still invalidate the license from the hardware change, and you
will need to call microsoft to re-activate the license. More grief.
Worst case, you have to buy a new windows license. Other worst case, you
have to buy a new windows license.
Jan if you have the time, you can grab clonezilla and snapshot the
windows partition before switching the disks, if it does not work out
you can at least roll back :)
