I get the following:

nasko at serre:~$ dpkg -l|grep -E "(extremetuxracer|etracer)"
ii  extremetuxracer                            0.4-1ubuntu1                          3D racing game featuring Tux, the Linux peng
ii  extremetuxracer-data                       0.4-1ubuntu1                          data files for the game PlanetPenguin Racer

so there doesn't seem to be any foreign packages. Surprisingly, the
symbolic link is an ordinary directory:

nasko at serre:/usr/share/games$ ls -l
total 24
drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 2008-07-29 15:33 angrydd
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-09-01 19:59 etracer
drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 2008-11-22 04:41 extremetuxracer
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 2008-06-23 17:28 fillets-ng
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-10-13 17:43 fortunes
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 2008-05-31 02:56 frozen-bubble

I removed the directory and created a link so everything seems to work
out now. I am not sure why there wasn't a link in the first place.
Reinstalling the packages did not help. I upgraded from Hardy during
alpha if this helps.
