That is, in fact, the test case on a Pentium II 266 with 128 MB RAM that 
I tried.  The interactive feel of the system is, of course, nowhere as 
responsive as this laptop I'm using (Turion64 X2, 4 GB RAM), but I do 
not see anything resembling the drastic performance hitch.
