I've added

filetype plugin indent on

at the start of my vimrc (immediately after the set nocompatible), and
also

set runtimepath+=/usr/share/vim/addons

to try and get around bug 183810. The comma-comma commands still don't
work in Jaunty, even though the syntax highlighting is apparently
active.

So reopening, as the suggested fix doesn't work.
