[xubuntu-users] I have "Indicators" and "Notification Area" in my panel, are they both necessary?

I found that having Indicators messed up my DropBox access and panel Icon.
When I removed "Indicator Plugin" and replaced it with "Notification
Area" into the panel, things began to behave much more predictably.
Are they supposed to do the same thing? Is one more suitable for XUbuntu?
