I use Python Windows Organizer as a desktop manager. It divides the screen up into 6 areas. Each app can occupy 1, 2, or 3 of the partitions in any location. An app can also use the entire screen. It is controlled using the ctrl key and the keypad keys. I have used it on several previous xubuntu version am now using it on xubuntu 22.04. http://www.webupd8.org/2010/10/pywo-python-window-organizer-easily.html
There is one problem. It is an old abandoned app. (I think around 2010. It uses python 2.7 so you need to install that. Its a pain to install python 2.7, but I have done it and it works. If you are interested, I can send you my notes for installing python 2.7.
