I believe they are, probably more of a chance since you're using a USB
stick and not a CD. I booted into the USB stick that I used to install
my system and it seems to have logs dated to the time of install. The
/var/log/syslog file and the /var/log/partman file would be of most
interest, if you find that the logs are there.

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  When installing Ocelot on a Eeepc 1005HA, install always crashes on
  "Setting up keyboard-configuration". This will cause the Eeepc to
  either hang or reboot.

  Issue occurs on both regular and alternative desktop installations and
  when executing 'dpkg --configure -a' during a rescue boot.
