I am closing in on this.
/etc/X11/xorg......xorg.conf - had the values for '800x640' as the only
mode and Default Depth of 24
YET
in xorg.conf.1 - has a slew of values from 1280x1024 to 640x480' and a
DefaultDepth of 16 - this is the one I want
In order to have X use the above is it as simple as rename xorg.conf to
xorg.conf.9 and xorg.conf.1 to xrog.conf ?
Then bounce the config with
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
It has been a long time since I had this much fun.....
