Hi,
I have the same issue since I updated the last time (a few days ago)
and a new kernel was installed. Using any other older kernel still
works. Try using an older kernel and see if the problem still occurs.
I don't know if it is the kernel or another package that causes it.
Once logged in you can update the system and see if the problem is
solved. I will do the same later on and let you know the outcome.
I also don't have a nvidia graphics adapter so I don't think that is
the cause (like suggested in earlier posts)
At least for me it can't be autologon since I don't have it activated.
But I didn't have the patience to wait 3-5 minutes so I can't tell you
if the system ever starts.
I hope you get things sorted out.
Sascha
