Hello,
This is not Kubuntu, but I feel up against a wall and don't know where best to
ask. Please redirect me if you know a better place.
Notebook: Acer One Aspire 7G5
wifi: Atheros AR5006EG 802.11 b/g
It comes with "Linpus Lite" which is fine and all, but it takes a lot of work
to make it usable. The notebook died and has just returned from 2 weeks of
'repair' and I was faced with the horrible task of re-re-setting it all up. So
I decided to try the Jaunty netbook remix.
All seems fine except I cannot get the wireless to work.
It starts with a 'ath5k' driver, but that does nothing. There seems to be no
effect in the network applet.
The led does not come on, but I flipped the switch slowly several times.
I watched output on /var/log/messages but nothing helpful comes out.
I tried the mad wifi drivers too. That shows some life in messages, but the wifi
does not activate, and the network applet shows no wireless availability.
I know the card works cos I tested it briefly in Linpus. I know the AP is up
too.
Does anyone here have more of a clue about wifi? Some cli voodoo perhaps? I am
so lost.
Thx,
\d
