So would I. I find this "I need to know the real name of [fill in]"
quite excessive, and absolutely bullish.

So. We are using e-mails, and on-line services. Why is it that people
think the name in the e-mail account is (1) a real name; (2) the account
holder's name, to boot? I would expect that stance from casual Internet
users, not from "us".

I myself don't like being known on the web -- I am rather private. I do
not crave fame -- it just happens that I use Linux, I prefer Ubuntu, and
I wish to give back to the community that provided me with it. If this
community requires my real name to allow me to try and help, then I will
move on.

I understand that if I were to get really involved on -- say -- Ubuntu,
people would want to know my real name... and since I see no need for
this, I limit my work here.

Credibility is the result of one's work, not one's name. I have a GPG
key. The chances of my GPG key being abused are the same whether my real
name is known or not; if I am an human being of the female (or male)
persuasion plays no role on the work I perform (or refuse to perform).
My views and opinions are as valid as any other person. If one needs to
know my name to read my views... well, awfully sorry and all of that,
and get over it. I do not care.

And... this is also one reason I quite infrequently comment on any
mailing list. This thread just happens to be one that I have rather
strong feelings about.

So... ta-da.
