Recently we changed the first boot experience, removing the default user (this is insecure if people forget to remove/change the password) and instead we require that the device is set up manually. This process uses console-conf and will walk you through setting up a first user (must have a store account) and any network changes that may be needed. For this you will need a screen and keyboard attached. We are looking at alternative options to configure a device for people who do not have a screen and keyboard attached but that is something for the near future.
