Ubuntu text login

I too prefer to login to text mode. If I need a GUI, I can just quickly type
startx and away we go.

I actually prettified my Ubuntu login back in the Hoary days and posted my

My /etc/issue is not a patch on the red-and-white Debian logo because I
can't do colour escape codes all that well, but I rather like it - makes me
pounce on the 'Keep existing' button when I'm asked about my /etc/issue
config file when upgrading!
