Hi
I'm having areal problem with a new monitor on ElementryOS (based on Nobal)
I cant get it to see the native resolution (1920x1080 at 75Hz) after a huge search
and hours of testing
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset video=1920x1080 at 75"
does nothing
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash video=1920x1080 at 75"
gives a blank screen (total black) even the monitors OSD fails after the
initial good result
then
$ cvt 1920 1080 75
# 1920x1080 74.91 Hz (CVT 2.07M9) hsync: 84.64 kHz; pclk: 220.75 MHz
Modeline "1920x1080_75.00" 220.75 1920 2064 2264 2608 1080 1083 1088 1130
-hsync +vsync
$ sudo xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_75.00" 220.75 1920 2064 2264 2608 1080
1083 1088 1130 -hsync +vsync
$ sudo xrandr --addmode None-1 "1920x1080_75.00"
if the "new" display is chosen it gives a blank/black screen with a blinking
mouse pointer
a terminal can be opened, it then reports
Can't open display
Various searchs suggest putting the above commands in a monitors bash file but
I hit the same problem "after" choosing the new resolution
any ideas, or I'm I stuck with 1280x1024 at 60hz (on that OS) with most controls
off the screen edge
Nobal & Questing (along with Win7) all work fine at 1920x1080 at 75hz on thevery
same box
