[ubuntu-za] Nasty Narwhal what a disappointment

Hi Dave

At the previous Ubuntu launch party I was told "to upgrade Ubuntu you just boot up from the Alternate CD and it will upgrade your machine"
that is why I booted from that CD ...... and wiped out my installation ................. it was done in .............. good faith ............ I listen to what the people tell me .

Thanks for the info

I was spoiled in the previous few years when I was a SUSE fan
SUSE Linux recognises a SUSE installation on the target machine and offers you an option to upgrade

Don't worry about Office , I also installed Other Linux programs from ...deb files and I can see them in a screen somewhere and can launch them from that screen,
but would like to have a launch button on top or on desk top

Can one do that with Natty?

Is there a way to choose/change the desktop during/after install ? I would prefer Gnome if its possible. I don't like this new thing.

May be I should re-install the Ubuntu from the ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso file and try a fresh install?
Now that I have lost everything and ..................all

regards
Nick
